On Night Court, Spiner played Bob Wheeler, husband to June (Annie O'Donnell).

She was chosen to originate the role of the Witch in Into the Woods in 1987 but was replaced on Broadway by Bernadette Peters though she did perform the part at the end of the run. Kelly's career began during the mid1960s in theatre, making her Broadway debut as Mrs. Veloz in the 1964 musical Something More!, alongside Barbara Cook. After its primary run in broadcast syndication, the series aired on A&E Network for many years. Kelly remained married to Chaffey until his death in November 1990.
